King, Joseph Wade (LaFayette)

Joseph Wade King, 76, of LaFayette, passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021.

Mr. King was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served with the 4th Infantry Division from 1966 – 1968. He graduated from Sevier County High School in 1962 and received a Bachelor of Science in Forestry degree from the University of Tennessee. He retired from the U.S. Forest Service in 2000 as a District Ranger on the Chattahoochee National Forest.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Buford King and Ethel Temple King; brothers, Samuel Albert King and David Temple King; and nephew, Matt King.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Paula Meadows King of LaFayette, GA; son, Dr. Logan S. King and wife Melissa, and grandchildren, Walker and Charlotte of McDonough, GA. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Janet King of Sevierville, TN; Peggy King and Anita King of Knoxville, TN, and Beth Meadows Ketchum and husband, Chuck, of Acworth, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

According to his wishes, Mr. King will be cremated without a funeral or burial.

A memorial service may be held at a later date for family. His ashes will be spread on the waters of the French Broad River from the Boyds Creek family farm in Sevier County, TN, where he grew up.
