LTC Cain A. Bridgman, U.S. Army (retired), stacked arms for the final formation on January 27, 2022.

Cain graduated from City High School (3rd St) in 1956 (having participated in ROTC), received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga in 1961, graduated the Armed Forces Staff College in 1970, and received a Master of Science degree from the University of Utah in 1977.

LTC Bridgman received a Regular Army Commission in 1961 from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga Reserve Office Training Corps (starting with the Navy reserve at age 16) and served with the 82nd Airborne Division, 173 Airborne Brigade (Republic of Viet Nam) 1st Brigade 101 Airborne Division (Republic of Viet Nam), US Army Training Center, Fort Benning, GA, 25th Infantry Division (Republic of Viet Nam), HQ Continental Army Command, US Navy Command Mid East Force (Persian Gulf), 18th Airborne Corps, HQ 437th Military Airlift Wing, and HQ 7th Corps (Germany). He retired from the US Army in 1982 after serving in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

After retiring from the U.S. Army, Cain entered the real estate appraisal profession and performed home and commercial property appraisals; he is a member of Brainerd United Methodist Church (McFerrin Class).

Cain is survived by his brother, Jay Bridgman, sister-in-law Pam Bridgman, son Christopher Bridgman, son Derek Bridgman, daughter-in-law Jana Bridgman, and former wife Dora Bridgman.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 1, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with military rites being conducted. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1–3 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 1, at the funeral home. The family has asked that all in attendance for the visitation and funeral service to please wear a mask.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either Brainerd United Methodist Church (McFerrin Class) or your local animal shelter in Cain's name.
