HHM Certified Public Accountants were able to provide Thanksgiving meals to 341 families in the Chattanooga area during its annual Thanksgiving fundraiser. Catelyn Millaway, a staff accountant at HHM CPAs, was the brainchild of the fundraiser. The meal boxes were delivered to eight Chattanooga organizations on Monday for distribution.
Ms. Millaway had been involved in a similar fundraiser in college and brought the idea to HHM last year. She coordinated with several local nonprofits to develop a list of needed items.
Each food box donated included peanut butter, tea, canned vegetables, canned fruit, all-purpose baking mix, cornbread mix, stuffing, gravy, potatoes, macaroni and cheese, brownie mix, cooking spray and sugar. The HHM partner group supported her efforts and wrote a check to each of the eight organizations to purchase turkeys/hams for the 341 boxes that were donated.
“When I started at HHM less than two years ago, I never dreamed the impact that the people of this firm would make on the Chattanooga community,” said Ms. Millaway of the fundraising efforts.
The month-long, staff-led initiative provided meals to Tri State Food Pantry, Chattanooga Community Kitchen, Blue Chip Boxer, Calvary Chapel Chattanooga, Southside Youth Development, Helping Hands of Chattanooga, Apison Baptist Church and La Paz of Chattanooga.
