Hamilton County government is searching for a director of its Economic and Community Development Department as County Mayor Weston Wamp sets into motion his agenda to recruit the jobs of the future and strengthen the area's workforce.
“From a youth apprenticeship initiative to efforts to spur entrepreneurship throughout Hamilton County, many of my administration’s boldest plans will be facilitated through the Economic and Community Development Department,” said County Mayor Wamp. “We are looking for a leader who loves Hamilton County and has a heart for ensuring underserved communities are connected to economic opportunity.”
The new director will work closely with County Mayor Wamp and Deputy Mayor Cory Gearrin along with regional economic development organizations, the State of Tennessee, and various county department heads with a role in economic development. Deputy director positions focused on workforce development, community outreach, and intergovernmental affairs will be added to the department in the coming weeks and months.
