Presiding Elder Charles Finch, 77, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 8, 2022.
A longtime presiding elder of the 13th District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, he pastored churches in Chattanooga, Middle Tennessee, and the Memphis area. Upon his retirement from active ministry, he served for over 20 years as presiding elder of the North Memphis District.
A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, he leaves to celebrate his memory a wife, Linda C. Finch of Chattanooga; two sons, Christopher J. (Michelle) Finch of Cleveland, OH and Ian (Tennille) Finch of Dothan, AL; one daughter, Chanda (Cecil) Finch Davis of Cordova, TN; one brother, Clarence G. Finch of Chattanooga; seventeen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one brother, Clarence G. Finch of Chattanooga; three aunts; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Reverend Finch will lie in state on Friday, Dec. 16, from 12:30-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 11 a.m. at Greater Second Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Darrell K. Scott officiating and Bishop E. Anne Henning Byfield as the eulogist.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery on Monday, Dec. 19, at 11 a.m.
