Southern Adventist University Symphony Orchestra
The School of Music at Southern Adventist University invites the community to a performance by its Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 7:30 p.m. in Collegedale Church of Seventh-day Adventists on the university campus.
Directed by Laurie Redmer Cadwallader, the concert’s repertoire will include Verdi’s Overture to La forza del destino (The Force of Destiny), Bottesini’s Double Bass Concerto No. 2 in B minor, and Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3 in A minor, op. 56 “Scottish.” The event will also feature guest soloist Taylor Brown.
Mr. Brown, principal double bass of the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera, has also performed with the Pittsburgh, Colorado, and Nashville symphonies and many regional groups. As an educator, he serves on the faculty of UTC, the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts, and Sewanee Summer Music Festival. Mr. Brown also maintains a private teaching studio and gives masterclasses in both solo and orchestral performance. After completing a bachelor’s degree in double bass performance from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University in Maryland, he earned a master’s degree and artist diploma from Duquesne University in Pennsylvania.
