Galen LaWayne Allen, Sr., 60, of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022, in a local hospital.

He was a 1980 graduate of Howard High School. Galen was formerly employed by Tupelo Honey as a Chef. He was a member of Warren Chapel A.M.E. Church where he sang in the choir and was a member of the Men’s Club.

Galen was preceded in death by grandparents, John and Helen Allen; mother, Juanita Marie Allen; father, Willie James Bowling; uncle, Charlie Boot Allen.

Survivors include his wife, Serena McSears Allen of 21 years; sons, Demetrius LaWayne Allen, Keyton J. Allen, and Galen L. Allen, Jr., all of Chattanooga; daughters, Nakia W. Allen, Jamie M. Allen, and Cindy N. Eberhardt, all of Chattanooga; 10 grandchildren; brother, Vincent Bowling of Chattanooga; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.

Galen will lie in state on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Pedro Basden as eulogist.

Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
