Chattanooga Engineering Group announced Thursday that it is officially launching structural engineering services to its clients with the hiring of Jabel Busl. Mr. Busl graduated from UTC in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He previously spent seven years in the renewable power sector and has a background in both structural design and project management.

“I am thrilled to join Chattanooga Engineering Group and to help grow their engineering and construction services in the greater Chattanooga area,” said Mr. Busl. “As a community, we can all feel the excitement and growth in our region. Being part of CEG gives me the opportunity to have a small voice in developing our community in a responsible and safe manner.”

Mr. Busl currently lives in Cleveland with his wife Michelle and four children, Hudson, William, Makenna and Anderson. Before settling in the Tennessee Valley, he spent 10 years working throughout Central Africa and North Asia, building community infrastructure in regions that were underdeveloped and often in civil conflict. While managing these construction projects, Mr. Busl became interested in expanding his ability to contribute to infrastructure development and decided to pursue his formal education in civil engineering.

“I felt that the engineering faculty at UTC worked tirelessly to put their students in a position to learn at the highest level. They went above and beyond to provide every opportunity for success,” Mr. Busl says of his time there. “It was during this time at UTC that I became aware of what an incredible and storied city Chattanooga is. I really value the opportunity to be part of developing new projects while also preserving the heritage in this region.”

While attending UTC, Mr. Busl also worked at Signal Energy, a Chattanooga based firm that provides design/build services for utility scale solar and wind energy projects. Most recently he spent four years with Black & Veatch Corporation where he served as a structural engineer and lead a team in Black & Veatch’s Hydropower and Hydraulic Structures group.
