Kim Amburn, 60, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at her residence with her husband and sister by her side.  Kim's death was a result of diabetic complications.  She had been in hospice care for almost 16 weeks.

Kim was a 1979 graduate of Central High School in Chattanooga.  She continued her education at UTC as a music major where she was a member of the Chattanooga singers and the UTC Chamber Singers.  It was there in the lobby of the music building that she met a piano major named Greg and for Kim it was love at first sight. Greg and Kim married after Greg finished his Master's Degree and of course the wedding had fantastic music.

Kim has been an active member of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church for over 25 years and previously a member of Woodland Park Baptist.  She was involved in the banner ministry, taught children’s choir and worked in the library.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Kim was born on September 19,1961 to Tom and Betty Harris of Chattanooga.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas H. Harris and Betty Jayne Miller Harris, siblings; Michael Wallace, Tina Harris and Tom Harris Jr.  She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Greg Amburn, a daughter, Brandi Jayne Belk (Shaun), beloved granddaughter Briley Jayne Amburn, sisters: Sandra Samples, Remona Steele and Debbie Hagan and special family friends the Starchers.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, Feb. 20, from 4-7 p.m. and Monday, Feb. 21, from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at Hamilton Funeral Home in Hixson, prior to the graveside service.

At 11 a.m., there will be a procession to the cemetery.

The graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 21, at the Chattanooga Memorial Park Cemetery with participating ministers: Mark Smith, Bill Proctor and Jeff Clark.

A special thanks to her sister Sandra, best friend Joan Cope and Hospice of Chattanooga for their help in caring for Kim in her final days.

Memorial contributions may be made to Brainerd Hills Baptist Church or Hospice of Chattanooga.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hamilton Funeral Home, 4506 Hixson Pike, Hixson, 423 531-3975.
