Rockbridge Oaks

The new Rockbridge Oaks boutique assisted living and memory care community is under construction in East Brainerd and the showroom for the community is now open on site at 6698 Palms Ct., off East Brainerd Road.

The showroom offers visitors an opportunity to view the community’s floorplans and learn more about the innovative programs this senior living rental community will offer residents. The community is planned to open in late summer.

Rockbridge Oaks is designed as an intimate, senior living community with only 62 private studios, one- and two-bedroom residences arranged in a two-story building. It’s located within an exclusive gated community near I-75, five miles from downtown Chattanooga. Hospitals, shopping and entertainment are in close proximity to the community.

Bridgeforth Capital, a private equity firm, is developing the community. The Chattanooga-based Morgan Construction Company, Inc., is the general contractor and construction management company. The community will be managed by Solvere Living, a national operator of senior living communities based in St. Petersburg, Fl. that manages communities in Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana and Texas.

In addition to the services provided to residents, unique to Rockbridge Oaks is an emphasis on outdoor green space. Large outdoor recreation areas are included in the community. The Maclellan Courtyard Oasis offers a pavilion, outdoor barbecue grill and areas for outdoor dining. Walking trails, lawn games and a community fire pit are also found within the community’s grounds.

“Research on successful aging indicates urban green spaces have a tremendous impact on the well-being of all, including older adults,” said Kristin Ward, president and CEO of Solvere Living. “Quality of life for seniors residing in a community as well as for the team members and visitors is enhanced and access to green spaces can promote mental and physical health.”

Ms. Ward said that through research and experience with their other assisted living communities, they have learned many future residents may have enjoyed gardening and outdoor activities with families. They are used to enjoying the outdoors and they’ll appreciate the extensive green areas being incorporated into the Rockbridge Oaks’ campus.

The architectural design of the community will offer an environment that while being modern in design, is geared to creating a closer-knit community and more personal, intimate experiences for residents, said officials. Fostering independence, security and support is integral to the community’s programming.

Rockbridge Oaks incorporates Solvere Living’s proprietary wellness philosophies Salus and Valeo.   Salus (Latin for “well-being”) is a holistic approach that focuses on each resident’s potential to achieve his or her personal goals through engagement and connection. Valeo (Latin for “to thrive”) focuses specifically on wellness initiatives for those with memory impairments helping build relationships with others and grow connections through positive approaches to social interaction.

The community’s lifestyle encourages each resident’s physical, social, intellectual and spiritual well-being. Anytime dining is planned with seasonal, chef-prepared entrees served in the community’s dining room. Additional indoor amenities include an event center, movie theater, art studio, library, beauty salon and spa, and business center. There’s also a private dining room for family gatherings.

The monthly service fee includes personalized fitness and wellness programs in the community’s fitness center. Rockbridge will offer 24-hour health support and an emergency response system. The wellness director coordinates with onsite ancillary and medical services, including visiting physicians, home health providers and rehabilitation services.

Rockbridge Oaks’ Valeo neighborhood (memory care) is designed for residents with Alzheimer’s and memory impairment who need 24-hour supervised care. A separate dining room and event center are accessible for these residents to enjoy.

New technology systems are included in Rockbridge Oaks such as the sign-in and screening Accushield system, Caremerge for family and community engagement and the state-of-the-art ALIS electronic health system for care management.

“We’re very excited about the Rockbridge Oaks community,” said Ms. Ward. “We hope to meet the growing demand of families in the Chattanooga area who are seeking an exclusive smaller and more intimate community in a park-like setting. Plus, our wellness philosophies, Salus and Valeo, which we introduced in senior living communities over seven years ago, help older adults stay physically active and thrive in all dimensions of wellness. That’s what successful aging is all about.”
