Chattanooga Author To Debut Children’s Book Benefitting Crabtree Farms

  • Monday, April 11, 2022

Backyard Breakfast is a debut children’s book written by local author and former news reporter Betsy Hibbett. The book hit the number one spot on Amazon for new releases in children’s gardening during the pre-sale. The book release is this Earth Day, April 22.

Ten percent of all 2022 proceeds will be donated to Crabtree Farms in Chattanooga.

Melonie Lusk, executive director of Crabtree Farms, says she “looks forward to partnering with a local author to benefit the farm.”

Ms. Hibbett's own backyard inspired the story, chickens and bees included. The story is about a little boy waking up ready for breakfast. He gathers eggs, picks vegetables, and even gets honey with some help. Backyard Breakfast shows we can eat well without going to the grocery store, especially with rising food prices and food shortages.

Ms. Hibbett worked for a local network news affiliate in Chattanooga and now chases after three boys and a dog.
