Billy Graham preaching a sermon on the radio
Warner Park Field House
Audience in the Warner Park Fieldhouse
Evangelist Billy Graham was in the middle of a large crusade at the Warner Park Field House in 1953. Bob Briscoe was chief engineer of WDEF Radio. Mr. Briscoe said the radio engineer for Billy Graham got sick and couldn’t come to Chattanooga. Mr. Briscoe said he was called to fill in and he considered it an honor.
He said it was his job to make sure all the sermons were fed back to the studios of several radio networks in New York.
He remembers Mr. Graham coming to the radio room the Saturday before Easter Sunday. The famous evangelist sat down before the microphone and preached a radio message in one take.

Mr. Briscoe said before his passing, he'd "always remember working with Billy Graham, very friendly but always business."
