Broken Promises At The Ocoee Whitewater Center

Re: Reflections – Ocoee Whitewater Center

Repeated promises were made before, during and after construction of  the Olympic courses that the riverbed would be restored to its original condition after the Olympics.

Of course this was never done. Instead the area is restricted at times, fees are charged, access is limited, a bevy of rules are enforced and police are present. While just a few hundred yards downstream unfettered by government "help" is the river we grew up in and loved.

Now that the Whitewater Center is burned with its cozy amenities and upscale scale hotel class restrooms maybe they're closer to keeping their promises of 30 years ago.
