Donald "Don" Dean Salisbury, 84, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on May 4, 2022, at his home after a 10-year battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Don was a 1955 graduate of Lackawanna High School in Buffalo, New York.  He attended the University of Buffalo and proudly served in the US Army, where he was stationed in Germany.  He was a foundry supplies salesman with accounts throughout the Southeast.  He was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church.  After retiring, he enjoyed golf, tennis and weekly poker games with his buddies. He loved watching Tennessee football and basketball games.  He hardly ever missed any of his granddaughter’s soccer matches, gymnastics, lacrosse and track meets – he was their biggest fan!  Don thrived by attending the North River YMCA’s Parkinson’s focused boxing classes “Rock Steady”.  He was a regular three times a week.

Don will be remembered by his family, friends and caregivers for his kindness, generosity, quick witted humor and devout Catholic faith.  He will be missed deeply by those who knew and loved him.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, W. Dean and Mary Salisbury, his four brothers, his son, Michael, his first wife, Jeane of 42 years: his second wife, Saundra of six years.

He leaves behind a legacy of love for his daughters-Jill (Kim) Helton, Karin (Gary) Copeland, Gina Salisbury; his grandchildren, Sean (Storm) Wilson, Sara Corum, Anna Salisbury, Jessie Salisbury, Taylor (Austin) Copeland. Saundra’s children, Alison Pate, Cheryl (John) Copper and Chad (Stacy) Newman, their children and grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his wonderful caregivers that he truly “loved” – Sherry, Sharon P, De Dee, Sharon E, Samantha and Tonya (Kindred Hospice).

Don’s memorial service and mass will be Saturday, June 18, at noon at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, 930 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga 37415.  The family will receive friends and have a tribute of “life” an hour before the service.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to YMCA/North River/Parkinson’s boxing “Rock Steady” program: 4138 Hixson Pike, Chattanooga, Tn. 37415.
