Just Accept It - And Response

  • Wednesday, May 18, 2022

Sabrena Smedley really needs to take to task the 12,171 voters who voted for Matt Hullander. They are the reason as much she lost to Weston Wamp.

I like what Ralph Nader said when interviewed countless times about spoiling Al Gore’s chances winning against George W. Bush. People should look not at the votes for Mr Nader but the votes cast for Mr Bush.

Every election has winners and losers. The most powerful narcotic in American Politics is power. Your power just got voted away. Please Ma’am, accept that, and move on. That is what being powerless over power is about. Acceptance. The flip side is resentment.

If it means much that Democrats helped get Weston elected, I mean be winner of primary then maybe just maybe leveled-headed voters prevailed. It is an open primary by Tennessee Law.

Last but not least, 2000 donkeys, whatever the name of the Faux Tell All, is debunked over and over by Republican led Secretaries of State all over the country. And a bunch of regarded news outlets.  Why the believability has to be a survey questions in this fine well crafted news website is beyond this voter.

Dear Sabrena, I hope you will read the opinion letter of from Prentice Hicks where he wisely has advised you to “just accept it”. It’s very sound advise from a man who is liberal, yet honest in his opinions. You have served this county well as a member and chairman of the Hamilton County Council. Please don’t shoot yourself in the foot with this hypocrisy. One of your head campaign supporters, a person whom I love dearly and resides in Murphy, N.C., took to social media asking Democrats to cross over and vote for you.

You are asking the State Republican Party to discard their integrity because you lost the election, fair and square. Weston Wamp won because he was head and shoulders the best candidate in the race for county mayor.

How many Democrats voted for you? How many Democrats voted in the primary anyway, when they didn’t have but a couple of candidates? What will your “spoil sport” attitude do to your own future in politics? And, for the biggest question of all, what will your request do to help the Republican Party?

Sabrena, the Republican Party is in the best place it’s ever been in both Tennessee and Hamilton County. The bottom line is this: is your hypocrisy important enough to divide many in the Republican Party, ruin your own political future and maybe even open the door wide enough to get a Democrat elected as Hamilton County mayor? I sure hope not. You are way too good for that.
