June Coulter
June Coulter, 88, passed away peacefully on May 8 2022, at Heritage Hall, in Leesburg, Virginia. She was born July 25, 1933, in Columbus, Mississippi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bannie and Helen Rish; her husband, James Coulter; her son, Randy Coulter.
She is survived by her son, Rob Coulter (Dawn); and grandchildren, Ryan Coulter (Treasure), Kirsten Coulter, Casey Coulter, and great-nieces and great-nephews. June is the sister-in-law of County Clerk Bill Knowles and his wife, Marlene.
June was graduated from Kirkman Technical High School, class of 1952. Among her many activities, she worked on the yearbook staff and was Homecoming Queen. Her motto was “If something is worth doing, it’s worth doing right.”
She is retired from Tennessee Department of Health & Human Services, where she held many positions, as an educator and tireless worker for Tennessee Graduates.
June loved God, her husband, her family, and her Tennessee Vols. She was a faithful church member for her entire life, most recently McLean Bible Church in McLean, Virginia. Along with her husband James, she was a fixture at UT Football games and UTC basketball games for the better part of five decades.
June’s many talents were highlighted by her flair in the kitchen, soft but artistic touch on the piano, and her smooth alto in the choir.
A celebration of June’s life will be held on Saturday, May 28, from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. at Ridgedale Baptist Church in Chattanooga, preceded by visitation at 10 a.m.
