Hamilton County Schools Foundation To Hail HCS Heroes

  • Tuesday, May 3, 2022

The Hamilton County Schools Foundation will host the first annual Hamilton County Schools Heroes Award Luncheon on May 13. The event will honor outstanding Hamilton County public school teachers as well as Hamilton County Schools alumni who have had a positive impact on the community. The event will also highlight talented students from across the school system through musical performances, artistic creations, and more.

“This is an opportunity to celebrate excellence in Hamilton County Schools," said Krissa Barclay, executive director of the Hamilton County Schools Foundation. "After two long, hard years, we want to take a moment to recognize a few of our incredible educators and community members who are shining examples of success from Hamilton County Schools."

The event will honor three alumni of Hamilton County Schools: Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger, Tennessee State Rep. Yusuf Hakeem, and Jane Kaylor, founder and former CEO of the Chattanooga Ronald McDonald House. Eight Hamilton County teachers will also be honored for their exceptional contributions to student success during the past school year.

“Our teachers have risen to the challenges of the past two years by always putting their students first,” said Hamilton County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Justin Robertson. “Their dedication to helping all students thrive is the foundation of our school district, and we look forward to honoring them along with the HCS Foundation.”

Proceeds from the Hamilton County Schools Heroes Award Luncheon will support the Hamilton County Schools Foundation. The HCS Foundation raises funds to support projects that promote opportunity and excellence for all students. Founded in 2020, the HCS Foundation has raised nearly $1 million since its inception. Funds have supported projects such as the HCS Teacher Supply Hub, the HCS Mobile Learning Labs, school-based Care Closets for students in need, and the system’s first elementary eLabs at Brown Academy and Battle Academy.
