Hathcock, Lindsay "Tripp" (Cleveland)

  • Thursday, June 16, 2022

Lindsay “Tripp” Hathcock woke up this morning, got up and ran into the arms of Jesus. He has been wanting to do that for a long time, but today, June 14, 2022, his faith actually became sight. His parents, Lindsay and Peggy Hathcock, cared for him to the best of their abilities for the last 29 years.

Although they were told that caring for a child born with spina bifida would be hard, they refused to let Peggy’s first obstetrician kill him before he was born. Tripp has two sisters, Aubrey Lockwood (Ryan) and Micah Hathcock, who grew up experiencing all that comes along with having a brother with special needs. Tripp loved his many nurses and they cared for him with so much love. He especially loved Jennifer Moats, who cared for him for his last nine years. He loved the time that he spent at Cleveland High School and South Cleveland Church of God. His love for the Lord was so evident, especially when the South Cleveland Choir sang.

He was blessed with an extended family that loved him and will miss him dearly, his grandmother, Edythe Hathcock; grandmother and pappy, Ruthada & Van Mitchell; grandmother, Bonnie Hathcock; grandfather, Dick & Rachel Campbell; and aunts and uncles, Lynn & Dave Peterson, Joshua & Jamie Campbell, Jami & Mark Maguire and Ronna & Keith Mills. The Lord lead his girlfriend, Katie Seaton, into his life to love him for seven years.

Tripp endured over 100 hospitalizations and 76 surgeries/procedures. He always had a smile on his face and a hilarious sense of humor. Today the ventilator no longer hums and the SAT machine is no longer alarming, because even though Tripp did not deserve to die at only 29, he definitely does deserve heaven. And it is there that he will spend time with his grandfather, Lindsay “Levoy” Hathcock, Sr. who he has not seen in a year and the great-grandparents with whom he is just now becoming acquainted.

We, Tripp’s family, want to thank you for your love, prayers and support over these last 29 years. Thank you for bringing a smile to Tripp’s face and love to his life.

A celebration of Tripp’s life will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 18 at South Cleveland Church of God. His family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the 4 p.m. service. Rev. Edwin Lipsey will be officiating the service.

Share a personal memory of Tripp or your condolences with the Hathcock family at his online memorial at www.companionfunerals.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you contribute to Tripp’s favorite place on earth by making a donation to the debt reduction program at the South Cleveland Church of God.
