James Arwood
James Mitchel Arwood, 83, of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away on June 21, 2022 at his residence.
James Mitchel Arwood was born in Cleveland, Tn., to Oscar and Sylvia Arwood on Nov. 21, 1938. Mitchel graduated from City High School in Chattanooga in 1956. Mitchel was to married Lynn Mullins Arwood on June 1963 in Chattanooga, and the two just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Mitchel graduated from University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1970 with a degree in Mathematics. He started working at Combustion Engineering in Chattanooga as a draftsman at the age of 18. Later he was promoted to a Systems Analyst and worked there for 20 years. Mitchel also spent nine years at Brock Candy Company as the manager of their Computer Department. In 2000 he retired and kept various bookkeeping jobs to occupy his time. Mitchel was a veteran and served in the United States Army.
Mitchel is preceded in death by Oscar Arwood, father, Sylvia Arwood, mother, Joann Swisher, sister, and Kenneth Arwood, brother.
Mitchel is survived by his wife, Lynn Mullins Arwood, of Hixson, sister, Glenda Ramsey, of Peoria IL, son, James Gregory Arwood, of Madeira Beach, FL, daughter, Clarissa Arwood Wilson, of New Port Ritchey, FL, granddaughter, Raven Fowler, of Hutto, TX, granddaughter, Mary Catherine Skolfield-Olsen, of Syracuse, NY, grandson, Zach Arwood, granddaughters, Caroline Arwood and Savannah Arwood, of Signal Mountain, TN.
Grave site funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 1, at Greenwood Cemetery.
Donations may be given to Hospice of Chattanooga.
