Chattanooga head coach Shawn Poppie announced the addition of transfer Lamiah Walker to the 2022-23 roster.
“Lamiah is a perfect addition to our women's basketball program,” Poppie said. “She immediately adds to our culture with her work ethic, resiliency, and character.”
Walker, who prepped at Signal Mountain High School, is transferring from Austin Peay after one season with the Lady Govs.
“Lamiah has had some unfortunate luck with injuries,” Poppie continued.
“But I am certain with her mindset and work ethic she will be back and better than ever. I am excited to bring her back home to Chattanooga.”
Walker saw action in just six games her freshman season at Austin Peay with her final being a career game for the former Lady Gov. She scored six points in 15 minutes on the court against UT Southern while pulling down three rebounds. An injury kept her out of the rest of the season.
At Signal Mountain, she missed her senior year due to injury as well. However, she earned All-District and All-District Tournament honors in her sophomore and junior years for the Eagles while averaging 15 points, eight rebounds and three assists.
Walker missed her freshman year at Signal Mountain after transferring from Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences (CSAS) where she earned All-District and All-District Tournament honors as an eighth grader on the Patriots’ varsity squad.
She was also a member of the Signal Mountain volleyball and track and field teams.
Walker joins newcomers Brooklyn Crouch, Takia Davis, Yazz Wazeerud-Din, Frode Flos van der Schans and Raven Thompson.
