Barbara Sherrill Byrd, 74, of Fort Oglethorpe, passed away August 9, 2022 at her home. She was born on Oct. 28, 1947 in Chattanooga to Bobby Henry Laffew, Sr. and Reba Lafew (Laduke). She spent her early years in and around Chattanooga. She then moved down to Fort Oglethorpe, where she has lived for the past 40 years. She was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed action/crime shows and movies. Barbara was a lovng and caring soul that had a sense of humor. She was always willing to listen to someone, to chat or give advice.

She was preceded in death by her spouse, William Larry Byrd; her father, Bobby Henry Laffew, Sr.; her mother, Reba Songer; step-father, Paul Songer; and brother, Bobby Henry Laffew, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Aundrea Davis; her siblings, Paul Songer, Jr., Terry Songer and Michele Long; and her grandchildren, Ansley Davis and Alex Davis.

The family will receive friends at a later date by private service. 

Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Foundation in lieu of flowers. 

Final Arrangments are being handled by Companion Funeral and Cremation Service, Cleveland Chapel.
