Lee Welcomes 5 New Faculty To Campus

Lee University welcomes five new faculty to its campus this year: three in the Communication Arts Department, one in the School of Theology & Ministry, and one in the Helen Devos College of Education.

Dr. Drew Brown joins the Communication Arts Department as an assistant professor of public relations. Dr. Brown comes to Lee from a postdoctoral teaching/administrative position at Texas Tech University and five years of teaching at UT Martin. He is teaching several public relations classes as well as a social media course at Lee.

Dr. Brown received his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in public relations from the University of Tennessee, his Master of Arts (MA) in journalism and public relations from University of Memphis, a Master of Arts in Religious Education (MARE) from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, and his Bachelor of Arts (BA) in communications/public relations from UT Martin.

Victoria Phillips also joins Lee’s Communication Arts Department as a visiting assistant professor of art. Prior to this position, she was a part-time assistant professor of art at Kennesaw State University and taught for Lee Online. Ms. Phillips currently teaches painting and drawing courses at Lee.

She earned her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in painting from Savannah College of Art and Design, a Gifted Endorsement and Georgia Educator Certificate in art education from Piedmont University, and her BA in visual art from Lee.

Anna Marie Brendel will join the Communication Arts Department in the spring as a visiting lecturer in theatre. Since 2005 she has been involved in local theatre in the Chattanooga area, where she has built relationships with local music and theatre arts groups in conjunction with education and youth leadership. Ms. Brendel currently serves fulltime in Lee’s School of Music as a recruitment coordinator.

She graduated with a BA in theatre from Lee University and is pursuing an MFA in theatre pedagogy and dramaturgy from the University of Idaho.

Dr. Kevin Nordby joins the School of Theology & Ministry as an assistant professor of theology. He comes to Lee from the University of St Andrews, Scotland, where he was a postdoctoral research and teaching fellow in science-engaged theology. He currently teaches philosophy, Christian ethics, and apologetics ministry contexts.

Dr. Nordby received his PhD from the University of Oklahoma, his MA in philosophy from Virginia Tech, and a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. Paige Rapson serves in the Helen Devos College of Education as an assistant professor of special education. She comes to Lee from Shorter University in Rome, Ga., where she developed course content for new programs and created a dyslexia endorsement program. Dr. Rapson teaches special education courses for students preparing to teach special education and in general education settings.

She earned a PhD from North Central University, an MEd from University of South Florida, and a BS from Lee University.
