Quiktrip Makes Chattanooga Debut In Lookout Valley

  • Thursday, January 19, 2023

A new convenience store in Chattanooga is Quiktrip. The Quiktrip Corporation, from Tulsa, Oklahoma, has a chain of national travel centers and convenience stores. This store at 312 Browns Ferry Road will be their fifth or sixth location in Tennessee but the first in Chattanooga. It is on Browns Ferry Road in Lookout Valley off I-24 near Patten Chapel Road.

Although beer sales are an integral part of the business, said the store manager, there have been none allowed until it received a license at the Beer Board meeting Thursday morning. Vince Butler, vice chairman of the board, warned that that area has a history of minors trying to buy beer and said the employees there should be aware that compliance checks take place.

The Doubletree by Hilton hotel, 2232 Center St. in the Hamilton Place mall area near I-75 was approved for a beer permit. The hotel was formerly a Holiday Inn. The change of ownership brought about the need for a new license under the new owner’s name, Peachtree Hospitality Management.

Discussion that took place at the meeting, include a new law known as “Dallas’s Law” that took effect across the state of Tennessee on January 1. Beer Inspector, Officer Jason Wood is in the process of learning how it will affect bars and restaurants in the state. And the Chattanooga beer board is planning to create a policy to guide decisions relating to the requirements. The purpose of the new law is to provide greater protections for citizens where security guards are stationed at the door of businesses that serve alcohol. There are new requirements for those guards to complete training in de-escalation, safe restraint, CPR and First Aid.
