Brother Rufus Aul, III was born on June 30, 1962, to the parentage of the late Rufus Aul, II and Mable Hudson Gray. Rufus was a graduate of Brainerd High School and attended college at Knoxville University. He worked and retired from ADM Milling Company as a maintenance supervisor. On Monday, December 19, 2022, God dispatched his angels to usher Rufus Aul, III into eternal rest.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rufus Aul II; his mother, Mable Hudson Gray; brother, Collis Guines; stepfather, Horton Gray Jr., and many other beloved relatives.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving and devoted wife, Mary Spears-Aul; four children: Collins Thompson (Chattanooga), Kenneth Aul (Knoxville), Whitney Aul (Nashville), and Felicity Aul (Johnson City, Tn.). Rufus was also an amazing father figure to his bonus children: Marvin Fallins Jr., Mercedee Fallins, and MaTeisia Fallins all who reside in Chattanooga. He also leaves behind one brother, Ronald Gray (Wichita, Kansas), and fourteen grandchildren that includes Kenlyn and Maxton. Rufus leaves family and friends that will miss and cherish every moment he spent on this earth.

Public viewing will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 5, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 423 622-9995. An 11 a.m. funeral service will be held on Friday, Jan. 6, at New Horizon Baptist Church, 2007 East 27th Street.

Interment will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens East.
