Willie Mae Gunn Weaver was born on December 9, 1946, to the parentage of Amos Gunn and Willie Marzilla Barrow Gunn in Lanett, Alabama. She transitioned from her earthly life on October 24, 2023.

Willie Mae received her education in the school system in LaFayette, Al., and Chattanooga City College, Chattanooga.

At an early age, she confessed Christ as her personal Savior and united with the Mitchell Springs United Methodist Church in Lanett, Al. Being obedient to the Church Covenant, after moving to Chattanooga, she united with Stanley United Methodist Church where she served faithfully on the Usher Board, the Hospitality, the United Methodist Women, and the Culinary ministries.

In her professional career, she worked as an office manager and dental assistant for 38 years and worked over 14 years as a CNA/caregiver.

Willie Mae was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She LOVED cooking and hosting dinners and other gatherings in her home for family and friends. She saw to it that her family was given the best she could provide, in loving care, spiritual nourishment, and material comforts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Mary Watts, Eddie Charles Gunn, Roger Gunn, and adoptive sister Evelyn Ward.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children: Terrance A. Weaver, Seffner, FL, and Janella M. Clark, Chattanooga; adoptive daughter: Alethea Brown, Tampa, Fl.; grandchildren: TeVaurus Aquil Weaver and Te’Sean LaTrell Murphy, both of Chattanooga; great-grandchildren: Trentus Alique Weaver and TaVious A. Weaver, Chattanooga; siblings: Amos (Vickie) Gunn, Jr., Detroit, Linda Hill, Los Angeles, Marie Greene, Chattanooga, William Robert (Tracy) Gunn, Milford, Mi., Sallie (Ray) Thomas, Newnan, Ga., Alex (Deborah) Gunn, Chattanooga, Gail Ramsey, Chattanooga, Roberta (Wilbert) Wheeler, Sr., Chattanooga; Eric (Pricili) Gunn, Atlanta; Ronald (Beverly) Beasley, Detroit, Mi.; adoptive family friends-Michael and Estella Harvey, Chattanooga; many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and a special group of children she embraced as her own.

Funeral services will be held at Stanley United Methodist Church at 12 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 30. The body will lie in state prior to the service from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the church.
