GNTC Receives $40,000 Grant From Truist To Support Adult Education

Georgia Northwestern Technical College received a $40,000 grant from Truist Financial Corporation to support Adult Education. 
 
“With support from the Truist grant, our Adult Education program is able to offer Training on the Go sessions, providing our students with the opportunity to obtain industry recognized credentials,” said Lisa Shaw, vice president of Adult Education at GNTC. “This positively impacts our students as they move forward with their career goals and also positively impacts Georgia's workforce.” 
 
Grant funds can be used for High School Equivalency test fees, student incentives, books, materials, tuition, fees and equipment to support Training on the Go opportunities in Customer Service, Occupational Safety and Health Administration 10-Hour General Industry Training, forklift operator awareness training, Logistics and Welding, Ms.
Shaw said. 
 
Ms. Shaw said GNTC has received donations from Truist Financial Corporation for the past two years; those funds were used for fees, certification costs, materials and student incentives.
 
“Truist is proud to support the Adult Education program at Georgia Northwestern Technical College with this significant grant,” said Derold McIver, senior vice president of Community Development for Truist. “Investing in education and helping to develop career pathways for individuals is one way Truist inspires and builds better lives and communities.” 
 
“GNTC’s Adult Education program provides tangible technical skills that prepares students to advance their careers and contribute to northwest Georgia communities,” Mr. McIver said. “Truist looks forward to their future success.”
