Elizabeth "Lib" Watson Baker, 95 years old, graduated to glory on November 17, 2023.

The daughter of Blanche Fuller Watson and Loddie John Watson, Lib was born June 9, 1928, in Farmington, Va., and moved with her family to Charlotte, N.C., early in her youth. She graduated from Harding High School in 1946. Following her graduation, she met Charles Cecil Baker, the love of her life, whom she married in 1950. This began a 70-year joyful and blessed marriage, until his death at the age of 94 in 2021. They spent the first 17 years of their marriage in Delaware with DuPont, eventually transferring to Chattanooga in 1967. After moving to Chattanooga, Lib worked as the secretary of Red Bank High School from 1971-1986 where she kept things running with efficiency and grace until her retirement.

Lib's priorities in life were faith first, then family and friends. For 56 years she was a faithful member of White Oak Baptist Church, serving in different capacities along the way. She especially enjoyed the wonderful fellowship there, and developed life-long friendships with many of the members.

Lib was also devoted to her family, demonstrated by her sacrificial service and support for each family member throughout the years. She prayed for them unceasingly and cross-stitched many verses from Scripture as gifts to encourage them.

Lib is survived by son, Chuck Baker (Cynthia), daughter Debby Kailer (John), and daughter Marsha Anderson (Bob). She was also the proud grandmother of six and the great-grandmother of five.

The Baker family would like to express their deep appreciation for the loving service provided by the caregivers of Comprehensive Care throughout the past year.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate lib Baker's life at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24, at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service between 12 and 2 p.m.

Memorial contributions can be made to White Oak Baptist Church, 310 Memorial Drive, Chattanooga, Tn. 37415, and to Bethel Bible Village, 3001 Hamill Road, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
