Hamilton County's Growth Plan Announces Last Of 3 Open Houses This Year

  • Thursday, November 30, 2023
The Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Planning Agency has been hosting a series of Open Houses to dive deeper into community priorities. The next open house is being held for Areas 8 and 13 - Soddy-Daisy, Middle Valley, Lakesite and North County on Dec. 5 from 5-8 p.m. at Soddy-Daisy High School, 618 Sequoyah Access Road.

These interactive sessions are designed for community members to voice their opinions on
crucial issues. Key focus areas for these Open Houses include:
1.
Traffic and Transportation: Discussing vital transportation improvements and gathering public input for safer and more efficient roads.
2. Housing and Commercial Development: Seeking community insights on the location and type of new developments to shape our community's future.
3. Parks, Greenways, and Natural Systems: Your suggestions for new parks or greenways are essential in enhancing recreational spaces and protecting natural resources.

Officials said, "Studies report that Hamilton County is expected to add over 43,000 households by 2030 if growth rates continue at the current pace according to RCLCO Real Estate Consulting, Real Estate and Housing Needs Market Study (2023).

Karen Hundt, director of Community Planning & Design at the RPA said, "Working together, we can find ways to manage future growth to minimize the negative impacts often associated with new growth, while also preserving the scenic qualities and natural resources that we all love in our
community. We can either grow by chance or by choice".

"The growth planning process will define what type of development is needed in the future and
where it should be located to make the best decisions for Hamilton County as it grows in the
future," officials said. "Community plans are shaped through citizen feedback, along with insight from businesses, service providers, County departments and our elected leaders. Participation is encouraged for all to share ideas and help sculpt the future of Hamilton County.

"The Open Houses provide a direct platform for residents to engage with planners and influence
decision-making. Join us in shaping the future of Hamilton County. Don't miss out. Your voice is powerful."
