U.S. Army Veteran Was Owner And Operator Of Curtis Auto Repair For Over 50 Years

Gary O. Curtis, 79, of Rossville, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at a local hospital.

Gary was born at Flat Rock, AL on June 4, 1944, to the late Ordway and Dixie Curtis. He proudly served the country with the U.S. Army. He has always been involved with automotives in some type. He opened and operated Curtis Auto Repair for over 50 years.

He was known for his street rods and antique cars he collected. Gary enjoyed NASCAR races, collecting memorabilia, visiting with friends at Hardee’s and Jack’s and thrived on helping others. He was known for his generosity and witty personality.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Ordway and Dixie Curtis; grandparents, James and Pearl Curtis and Oscar and Doris Wilkerson; and brother-in-law, David McClung.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 57 years, Charlotte “Diane” Curtis; sister, Marsha (Dennis) Strobel; special friend, Bobby Blevins; his pet “children” Dixie, Max, Red and Brandy; many cousins and dear friends.

A graveside service will be held at Tucker Chapel Cemetery in Leesburg, Al. on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 1 p.m. EST/noon Central with Rev. Dawlon Conkle officiating.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Dec. 8, from 3–8 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home and Crematory in Rossville.
