The Chattanooga Mocs moved three spots up the Hayt Collegiate leaderboard into a seventh-place finish. Today’s 289 (+1) tied for the fifth-lowest round of the day.

The 3-day total of 878 was four strokes behind sixth-place UCF at 10 over. It was three better than Furman and Louisiana Tech in eighth and eight ahead of North Texas and UAB In 10th. Arkansas was 12th, nine behind Chattanooga.

“Proud of the guys for coming out this morning and firing one of the better rounds of the day against a great field,” Coach Blaine Woodruff said.
“We learned a lot this week. Although it wasn’t the final result we wanted, it was a great start to our spring from the standpoint the we have a great benchmark of what we need to improve on as we progress.”

Junior Paul Conroy had the top tally today with 1-under 71. Samuel Espinosa and John Houk were a shot behind at level par. Garrett Engle’s 74 was just ahead Braedon Wear’s drop score of 75.

Espinosa was low for the tourney tying for 25th at 219 (+3). Houk was one behind him at 220, while Conroy turned in 221 for his 54 holes. Engle and Wear matched with 223.

Vanderbilt won the team title by 16 shots shooting 836. Host North Florida was second with 852. The Commodores Gordon Sargent was medalist scoring 15-under 201.

The Mocs are off until March returning to the tee at the Tiger Invitational. The 3-day, 54-hole event is played on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Grand National Course March 5-7 in Opelika, Ala.
