Faye Taylor Hope, 77, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 25, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Hope, son, Eric Lee Hope, brother, Donald Taylor and parents, Cecil, and Loretta Taylor. She is survived by her children, Christi Madison (Tom) of Signal Mountain, Lee Hope (April) of St. Charles, IL, Heather Hope (Bridget) of McDonald, grandchildren, Jordan Madison, Hunter Hope, Hannah Hope, brother, Ronald Taylor of Rossville, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A 1963 graduate of Tyner High School, she would go on to attend Middle Tennessee State University later receiving a degree in education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
After a short stint in administration, she found her lifelong passion for teaching shorthand, typing, computers, and math at Hixson Middle School where she remained until her retirement in 2008. That love of teaching spread beyond the classroom, where she shared her joy of music and piano, tutoring students in her home until recently.
Forever the competitor, she enjoyed playing several sports including softball, tennis, and pickleball. During her time as a teacher, she served as coach for the Hixson Middle School girl’s tennis team, later she would join the Chattanooga Tennis Association and United States Tennis Association, playing in tournaments, sometimes serving as captain, traveling with her beloved tennis friends. After hanging up her tennis racket, she joined the pickleball craze and it quickly became her new obsession.
But perhaps, her greatest obsession was her family, especially her grandchildren. Blessed with three, she cherished them more than life itself. She loved spending time with them more than anything else in this life. She loved them, and they loved her.
An active member of the Chattanooga First Seventh-Day Adventist Church, she directed choir for many years and participated in the Happiness Singers traveling and performing at various churches, spreading the joy of Christ’s love.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 2, from 4-8 p.m. at Companion Funeral Home, 2415 Georgetown Road NW, Cleveland, Tn.
