Deborah Simmons
Deborah Ann Simmons, 67, of Chattanooga, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2023, at her residence.
She was a 1973 graduate of Howard High School. Deborah was a member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church. She was on the Usher Board, Movie and Fellowship Night Committee, Kitchen Committee, member of the Elizath Foster Sunday School Class, and a member of Fellowship of Christian Education.
Deborah was preceded in death by her grandmother, Nisha Ellington; mother, Mabel Simmons; father, Frank Starey; grandson, Malik Sawyer; uncles, Harold Ellington and Elijah Ellington; aunt, Theresa Ellington; and cousin, Sherlin Clark.
Survivors include her daughters, Crystal Simmons, Carmela (Terrance, Sr.) Stallion, and Tanika Simmons, all of Chattanooga; grandchildren, TeDarrius Myles, Jamilla Myles, Tyriuna Knight, Jaylan Stewart, Zavion Stallion, and Zacchaeus Stepp; great-grandchildren, Kaden Myles, Ayden Knight, Malik Sawyer, Jr., London Williams, and Samir White; brothers, David Simmons of Peoria, IL, Lebron Simmons of Jackson, MS, and Dennis Simmons of Chattanooga; sisters, Natalie (Kenneth) Cooper of Dalton, GA and Karen Fortson of Chattanooga; uncle, Napoleon Ellington of Chattanooga; aunts, Eatha Ervin and Betty Jude, both of Chattanooga; longtime companion, Robert Humphrey; devoted friends, Jennifer Maffet and Ruby Dennis; and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
Deborah will lie in state on Friday, March 10, from 12:30-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
Funeral serviced will be on Saturday, March 11, at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Pastor Michael Bennette officiating and Elder Kenneth Cooper as the eulogist.
Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
