Collegedale Commissioners Thank Community For Supporting Apison Food Pantry Drive

  • Friday, June 27, 2025

The Collegedale Board of Commissioners extends heartfelt thanks to the community for their support of the food drive benefiting the Apison Food Pantry, at 11304 First St..

Thanks to generous contributions from individuals, local businesses, and a donation from McKee Foods Corporation, the drive collected over 2,100 pounds of food to help neighbors in need.

Commissioner Tim Johnson praised the community’s engagement, stating, “Food donations play a crucial role in helping organizations like Apison Pantry serve those in need. It’s great that Collegedale and the surrounding communities are engaged in supporting this cause.”

Commissioner Debbie Baker added, “I’m thankful for all the caring people in our community and their compassion to help surrounding communities.”

Volunteers at the Apison Food Pantry accept and organize donations every morning. The pantry distributes food boxes to around 300 families each week, supplemented by bakery and produce items donated by area grocery stores.

“This morning, the boxes are going to be just a little bit sweeter thanks to the Little Debbie’s being donated,” said Commissioner Laura Howse. “I’m thrilled to live in and serve a community with such a generous spirit, and having a partner like McKee Foods makes a huge difference. Not only are they helping those in need, they are also donating Oatmeal Creme Pies to be given out at our Freedom Festival.”
