Proud parents, family members, friends and staff filled the gymnasium at Chambliss Center for Children on Friday for the Early Childhood Education Center’s Pre-K Graduation.
Chambliss Center for Children coordinated a fun-filled graduation program to highlight everything that the children have learned in preparation for Kindergarten. Dressed in caps and gowns, the children marched into a packed gymnasium filled with people screaming with excitement. Once in their seats, the children led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. Chambliss Center for Children Board Chairman Mark Hite welcomed guests to this cherished event, before introducing President and CEO Katie Harbison, who acknowledged the hard work and dedication of the parents to get the graduates to this moment.
“Your dedication means so much to us,” Ms. Harbison said to the parents. “You allowed Chambliss Center for Children to share moments like this with you, and we are truly grateful.”
Following the remarks from speakers Jaleesa Brumfield from the city of Chattanooga and Jennifer Pukenas from the Hamilton County government, the children proceeded to sing educational songs, dance to the days of the week and their numbers. They then excitedly awaited their names to be called from some of their favorite teachers. After being officially promoted to Kindergarten, the children cheered and danced out of the gymnasium, leaving nothing short of smiles and proud faces behind them.
“It has been a great honor to be in the midst of such promise and potential,” said Executive Director of Extended Childcare Program Sumer Arispe and Associate Director of Extended Childcare Program Levasia Green. “Class of 2023, you can go anywhere and we can’t wait to see.”
