Thursday was the final day of the regular season for teams in the Chattanooga Area Swim League and what a great day it was for members of the Cumberland Currents.

These guys have battled low numbers in recent years and had gone without a win for far too long, but that all changed on Thursday as they pinned a close 376-368 defeat on Cleveland to finish the season on a positive note.

Kymiri Turner, Zach Schurr and Jillian Schuster all scored 19 points to lead the winning Currents while Carter Young added 18 and James Chatard 17.

Carol Lynn Elliott and Elias Eldred both had 19 points for the Aqua Tigers while Ben Condo, Reed Blackmon and Addie Taubert all scored 16.

While Cumberland won the closest meet of the day, other winners included Ooltewah, Fairyland, Signal Mountain and Big Ridge

The Tidal Waves finished another unbeaten season to win the Blue Division with a 419.5-388.5 win at Stuart Heights while Fairyland got a note of revenge with a 433-341 win over the Waterdogs.

Signal Mountain won for the second time with a 299.5-164.5 win over visiting Dalton while Big Ridge finished a strong second in the White Division with a 440-362 victory over Red Bank.

Signal Mountain and Dalton will swim the last dual meet of the season next Wednesday at Fort Oglethorpe, two days before the start of the Bill Caulkins City Meet where Ooltewah is the three-time defending champion and heavily favored to win again.
