Lee students who came together to support the NoahBRAVE Foundation on race day
A group of Lee University students ran the 4th annual NoahBRAVE 5k held by the NoahBRAVE Foundation to raise funds and awareness for children battling diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma brain tumors.
“The NoahBrave Foundation was started in honor of my close friend Noah Evans who passed away in January 2021,” said Austin Krell, senior student organizer of Lee’s race team. “Noah and his family hold such a special place in my heart. He never failed to make me smile and had a joy that continually pointed those around him to the cross. The impact he had truly showcased the love of Christ to me and the rest of our community in Nashville.”
The foundation holds a main race in Nashville, but they allow people to “host” their own race location in different cities across the country. Since his freshman year at Lee, Mr. Krell has organized a team from the university to run the race in Cleveland and coordinates with the head of the foundation to promote the 5k to the Cleveland and Chattanooga areas each year.
“I had the pleasure of running this year with some of the student body at Lee University,” said Morgan Sharp, foundation volunteer. “It was heartwarming to see so many young leaders who did not know Noah show their support through prayer, running for the cause, and monetary donations, and I'm so grateful to have been able to be a part of it.”
The NoahBRAVE Foundation’s mission is to help families in their journeys with brain tumors through the entire battle from diagnosis to healing and beyond. It partners with families to help give them the gift of quality time together by easing the burden of life expenses. Families receive assistance with loss of wages, utilities, groceries and meals, medical bills, funeral costs, and much more.
In its first three years, the NoahBRAVE Foundation raised over $152,000. This year, its goal is to raise $75,000, beating last year's record of $70,000. All donations go directly into the hands of families with children fighting DIPG brain tumors and fund research for a cure for terminal brain cancer.
