The Chattanooga Mocs are in a familiar spot near the top of the leaderboard after 36 holes of the Bearcat Invitational. The Mocs 9-under total of 559 is two behind host Cincinnati’s 557 with 18 holes to play at Coldstream Country Club.
The Mocs had the 18-hole lead after a first round 276 (-8) by one over the Bearcats. Paul Conroy led the way with 68 (-3), just ahead of Samuel Espinosa and Braedon Wear’s 69s. John Houk completed the card with a fourth under-par score with 70.
The second 18 saw the squad slip back into second with 283 (-1).
Conroy and Espinosa continued the sub-par theme with afternoon 70s. Houk was next with level-par 71, while Wear came in with 72. Louisville had the low round with 277.
Conroy sits in a tie for third with 4-under 138. Espinosa is one behind in a tie for seventh at 139. Houk and Wear are tied for 17th with 1-under 141s. Garrett Engle totaled 149 for his two cards on the day.
The Bearcats 557 is two ahead of the Mocs with the Cardinals in third at 563. Middle Tennessee is fourth with 564, while BYU rounds out the top 5 at even-par 568. Cincy’s Connor McNeely is the individual leader at 9-under 133.
Tuesday’s final round is a 9 a.m., shotgun start. The Mocs, Bearcats and Cards will play head-to-head for the title.
