Audrey Catherine Millican Neal, 95, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. She was born in West Armuchee Valley, LaFayette, Georgia on July 25, 1928.

She is survived by her children, Melanie (Ragan) Pinion and Lamar (Susan) Neal; grandchildren, Rob (Tracy) Neal and Ben (Amanda) Neal; great-grandchildren, Ragan Jewell, J-Rob, Charlotte, and Harrison; and brother, David Millican.

Audrey attended West Armuchee Consolidated School and Young Harris College before graduating from UTC with a teaching degree.

Audrey married James Harrison Neal on Aug. 13, 1948. She taught at Gore for two years before moving to Hixson, Tennessee, where she and James had two children.

Audrey taught at Hixson Elementary School for 35 years. In 1949, she joined Hixson United Methodist Church where she remained a member until 2017.

In 2002, she and James moved back to West Armuchee to be with their family and grandchildren and to help with the farm.

Audrey loved her family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren very much.

Along with her beloved husband, James Harrison Neal, she was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Edward Millican and Mattie Jewell Peterson Millican.

Visitation will be on Sunday, Sept. 24, at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., with the funeral service at 4 p.m. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Pastor Sharon Coley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 4686 West Armuchee Road, Summerville, Ga. 30747.

Pallbearers are Jamont Ware, Brian Neal, Brian Smith, Phil Shattuck, Cole Shattuck and Brandon Shattuck.

Arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette.
