Museum Center @ 5ive Points in Cleveland will host a History Hour Thursday that features the infamous Oak Ridge Manhattan Project.
Oak Ridge Historian Ray Smith will facilitate the History Hour and discuss the vital role Oak Ridge played in World War II as the “Secret City”.
Open to the public, the History Hour begins at 6:30 p.m. as Mr. Smith and guests discuss the Manhattan Project and Oak Ridge role enriching uranium for the first atomic bomb weapons.
Mr. Smith is uniquely qualified to lead the History Hour session as historian of the Y-12 National Security Complex. His specific focus will include the mysteries surrounding the uranium a enriched processes undertaken at the Y-12, K—25 and S-50 plants during the Manhattan Project and how the Fat Boy and Little Boy bombshell worked.
