2nd Annual Go Build Construction Career Expo Is Next Thursday

  • Thursday, October 17, 2024

Go Build Tennessee and AGC East Tennessee will host the Second Annual Go Build Construction Career Expo next Thursday at the Construction Career Center (CCC). This event is designed for 10th-grade students who are eager to explore dynamic career opportunities within the construction industry. Parents of attending students are also encouraged to join and participate.

Students will have the option to choose from three time slots to attend the Expo: 8:30–11:30 a.m., 10 a.m.–1 p.m., or 12–3 p.m.

At the Expo, students will experience an array of hands-on demonstrations and interactive activities led by local construction companies. Attendees will have the chance to operate real construction equipment and tools, while exploring career paths in fields such as electrical work, plumbing, heavy equipment operation, carpentry, masonry, construction management, and more.

In addition to these immersive activities, students and parents will have the unique opportunity to connect with industry experts, seasoned professionals, and educators who are committed to fostering the next generation of construction leaders. This is a one-of-a-kind event to gain insight into the breadth and potential of careers in construction.

For students interested in pursuing a future in this field, Hamilton County Schools offers a variety of vocational programs that provide practical training, equipping graduates with the skills they need to step directly into rewarding construction careers after high school.

“The construction industry is in dire need of qualified workers interested in lucrative career paths," said Jerod Gilley, chair of AGC East Tennessee.  "This Expo will give 10th grade students a chance to experience skills in construction firsthand, and if it resonates with a student, we hope they will consider a vocational education path starting in 11th grade.”
