Shirley Kesley
Shirley Kesley, 82 of Ooltewah went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 29, 2024.
Shirley was born in Ooltewah, Tennessee on December 24, 1941 to the late Arvel and Ruby Nation. Her unwavering faith in the Lord was the cornerstone of her life, guiding every step she took and fueling her deep dedication to God. Her love for Christ was evident in the way she lived – touching countless lives with her commitment to serve and glorify God in all that she did. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a collector “of stuff” and enjoyed going to yard sales and shopping at the Samaritan Center. Shirley was a member of Bancroft Church of God where her son, Jeff is the pastor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Janie Belle Boyd. Gainelle Willerson, Bobbie Wilson, and Edna Spurgeon, brothers, Arvel Nation, Jr., and James Nation Left behind to cherish Shirley’s memory are her children and their spouses, Annette (Greg) Forgey and Rev. Jeff (Tina) Kesley, grandchildren and their spouses, Amy (Jason) Watkins, Jeremy (Katie) Kesley, Jason (Jennifer) Joy, Tiffany (James) Taylor, great- grandchildren, Briana and Bryson Gladden, Chloe, Summer and Emma Kesley, and Nate and Luke Joy, brother, Gene (Johnnie) Nation, sisters, Peggy (Warren) Denton and Betty (Dan) Richmond several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
A Celebration of Shirley’s Life will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 1 p.m. in the Chattanooga Funeral Home Valley View Chapel with Rev. Terry Kesley and Rev. Jeff Kesley officiating. The family will receive friends Monday evening December 2, 2024 from 4-8pm. She will be laid to rest in the Lee Cemetery alongside her beloved husband of 64 years, Bill in McDonald, Tn.
