Missy Crutchfield: An Open Letter On Election Day

  • Tuesday, November 5, 2024

Today is the day we have all been working so hard for and I simply cannot thank you enough for all your amazing support to this campaign. This morning as I am waking up and getting ready to tour across Tennessee State Senate District 10 polling locations today, I am thinking of each and every one of you with such deep gratitude.

I want to give a BIG thank you to everyone on my campaign team—Campaign Manager Nicole McDermid; Communications Director Melissa Turner; Campaign Treasurer Shelly Doran; Social Media Manager Shelley Higgins; and Volunteer Coordinator Amy Slagle.

Members of The New Suffragettes showed up in a really big way for this campaign as well as all of our slate of “blue” candidates to really “do something” in the wake of the 2022 Roe v. Wade reversal. We demonstrated loud and clear that we support women candidates running for public office and candidates who support women’s rights and reproductive healthcare. And we’re not done!

I want to thank all our campaign volunteers and donors who have made this Campaign a success. Your support really means so much to me. Together, we have shown up, we have done the work, we have started the important conversations, we have moved the needle, we have gotten out the vote, and we have begun building bridges for a stronger, safer, healthier Tennessee for all. This is a win!

I want to especially thank the creative musicians and artists who so generously contributed to our campaign arts and culture—from our Elect Missy Crutchfield Campaign Jingle “We’ve Got Work to Do!” brought to us by Tony R. Smith Sr., Karen Collins, Sam Patton, Tony Lowery, and Cam Busch to the Original Campaign Song “We Can Build a Bridge” brought to us by Butch Ross and Richard Daigle, dedicated to all of our candidates, and brought to life by vocalists Hayley Graham Duncan, Luke Simmons, and Raif Gork.

At the heart of our campaign, we have been leading a “Listening Tour” across Tennessee State Senate District 10 since early this summer, and as I have had conversations with people across the political spectrum—democrats, republicans, independents, non-voters, first-time voters—one thing it seems we can all agree on is that we really do have more in common than not and that it’s time for the divisive politics and extremism to end.

We used to be able to talk with each other. We used to be able to listen to each other. We used to be able to put our differences aside and work together for the good of the people. We used to be able to debate the issues and still shake hands at the end of the day. We need to get back to that kind of politics and that kind of servant leadership that needs to be demonstrated across the State of Tennessee and in this country.

Over the course of this campaign for Tennessee State Senate District 10, I have demonstrated that I am a public servant and I listen to the people and I will work on legislation that betters people’s lives. I want to thank you again from the bottom of my heart for placing your confidence in me as your candidate. Thank you for your support and your vote.

We have talked about a wide range of issues that are important to us all as Tennesseans—public education, healthcare and women’s reproductive health, sensible gun laws, small businesses, protecting the environment and the planet, animal protection legislation that helps shelters and related services, supporting farmers and local farms, sustainable and regenerative agriculture, climate action and disaster response, eliminating grocery taxes, supporting livable wages, criminal justice reform, medicaid expansion, and so much more.

We have a vision to bring Tennessee to the forefront of proactive legislation, accountability, and leadership that will truly make Tennessee shine like never before.Together we can bring a new day in politics where we build bridges, find common ground, and work together for stronger, safer, healthier communities across Tennessee.

Together, we can do this!

Thank you!!
-Missy Crutchfield, Candidate, Tennessee State Senate District 10
