Tennessee Police Benevolent Association Supports Janie Varnell

  • Tuesday, December 10, 2024

Please accept this letter as a strong recommendation for attorney Janie Varnell as she seeks appointment as the county attorney for Hamilton County. It is my pleasure to submit this recommendation on behalf of Southern States Police Benevolent Association's Tennessee Division. The TN Division represents 292 current law enforcement officers working for agencies within Hamilton County.

Ms. Varnell has been representing our Tennessee law enforcement members for the past 10 years after she began working with the Davis and Hoss law firm in Chattanooga. PBA's relationship with the Davis and Hoss firm extends back more than two decades. The firm's integrity has always been of the highest level and Ms. Varnell quickly became an attorney we found to be of equal caliber. The level of detail and commitment she provides is directly reflected in the outcomes she achieves for our members, whether through civil lawsuit defense, administrative proceedings, or criminal defense. This can only be accomplished through a great level of effort, skill and attention to detail from the moment she becomes involved in a case. Not on just one case, but every case time after time for the past decade.

One of her greatest gifts is her pragmatic approach to cases. She possesses the legal acumen of knowing how to litigate in difficult legal matters, but also the wisdom of knowing when that is not the best option. This trait places her within a select few attorney we can count on to handle the most difficult cases our member's face.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if I or anyone in our organization can provide additional information to support Ms. Varnell's appointment. Ms. Varnell's service will be missed, but I highly recommend her efforts to serve as the county attorney.
