Broken Pothole Promises - And Response

  • Friday, December 13, 2024

Mayor Kelly ran for office as the pothole mayor promising to fix all potholes city wide. I have emailed him numerous times and he ignores the request to fix the severe potholes at 243 Glendale Dr., with many others and depressions on the entire street.

My tax paying dollars are not being responded to by you, Mr. Mayor. Fulfill your promise and fix the road and act like you are running for office the first time.

Disgusted taxpayer,

I read Mr. Mansfield's comments about the continuing problem of potholes in Chattanooga streets and have to say that I also often wonder about the pothole repair program that the city is supposed to be following. If the mayor or any other elected city leadership drives Hixson Pike with any regularity, they can't avoid seeing the need for many repairs on that busy street, particularly on the stretch leading into the "S" curves.

One does wonder if election year activity might include more promises to repair potholes or, by some chance, actual repairs to these traffic problems.

Chattanooga is the only major city in Tennessee that does not have a bypass. I don't think the widening of lanes will help the traffic problems we have. The plans for a bypass have ... more
