The Chattanooga Division of Transportation announced the following road construction and paving updates:
Construction Closures
1040 Givens Road
The 1000 block of Givens Road will be closed Tuesday, Feb. 20 and Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. for a water main repair. Detours will be posted.
W. 12th Street/Market Street
The following locations will be closed Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. to allow for test borings to take place:
• The westbound lane of W.
12th Street between Broad Street and Market Street;
• The right, southbound lane of Market Street between 11th Street and Market Street; and
• The right, northbound lane of Broad Street between 11th Street and Market Street.
Work may continue through the 22nd or the 23rd, weather permitting, or if any issues are encountered. Further announcements will be made if additional days are required.
Major Closure Scheduled - Lower Mill Road Grade Crossing
The Norfolk Southern Railroad grade crossing at Lower Mill Road will close Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. for repaving. These times are estimated and are subject to change due to rail traffic. Separate announcements will be made when the crossing closes and reopens.
2024 Paving Season Update
The City of Chattanooga in coordination with Talley Construction are taking advantage of favorable weather conditions to complete the following paving projects as part of the 2023-2024 Resurfacing Plan. No full closures are expected, but delays may be experienced as temporary flagging around single-lane closures are implemented. Portions of the following roadways will see paving and resurfacing work for the week of Tuesday, Feb. 20 through Friday, Feb. 23:
