Dr. Alton M. McKinley, born on December 14, 1940, in Sewanee, Tennessee, transitioned from this earthly life on Saturday, April 13, 2024. A devoted independent Baptist minister, he pursued his passion for ministry, earning the esteemed title of Doctor of Ministry from Tennessee Temple in Lake Charles Bible.

Throughout his life, Dr. McKinley exemplified unwavering faith and commitment as a member and deacon of Ashland Terrace Baptist Church. His dedication to spreading the teachings of love and compassion left a lasting mark on all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Walker.

Dr. McKinley is survived by his beloved wife, Loretta, and their cherished children: Andrea Stanfield, Brenda and Don Catlett, Gordon and Alice Stanfield, Steve Walker, and Edward and Betty Stanfield. He also leaves behind a legacy of love through his three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a multitude of friends, including his dear companions Dan Smith and Ed Horner.

In his passing, Dr. McKinley leaves behind a profound impact on the lives he touched, remembered fondly for his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to his faith and community. May his spirit continue to inspire and guide us all.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Joey Hughes officiating.

The family will receive friends from noon until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
