Cleveland State's Casteel Earns Shutout Win Over Walters State

Cleveland State's Cooper Casteel shutout Walters State on Friday. 

He threw a complete game four hitter against the conference leaders striking out four and walking two. This was Casteel's (4-1) second complete game of the year, the first being a no-hitter.

Nate Dunfee drove in the Cougars (29-15, 11-11) first run in the bottom of the first singling home Kain Collins. Dunfee and Collins each went 3-4 and scored a run.

Riley Orr batted in the game's only other run in the sixth inning on a single.

Walters State (39-11, 18-4) committed three defensive errors contributing to one of Cleveland State's runs.
Karson Bonaparte (9-2) suffered the loss going seven innings allowing one earned run on eight hits while striking out eight and walking two.

Games two and three of the series will be played tomorrow. The games are being pushed back an hour to a 1 p.m. start time.  It will be the last Cougars baseball home games of the season with their sophomore recognition ceremony beginning at 12:40 p.m.
