Mrs. Mary Lou Stoker, 93, of Chatsworth, Georgia, departed this life on Sunday March 31, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Mary Lou was born on August 19, 1930 in Calhoun, Ga., a daughter of the late, Wilburn Franklin and Pearl Wilson Rice. She was also preceded in death by her husband, David Franklin Stoker, sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Virgil Mullins, brothers, Wilburn Rice, Jr., James Rice, Leon Rice, Doyle Rice and Don Rice, son-in-law, Charles Lawson, grandson-in-law, Ricky Reed.

Mary Lou was a beautician for over 40 years and was a member of Woodhaven Church of Christ in Chatsworth, Georgia.

She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, David and Gwen Stoker of Canton, GA, and James “Jimmy” Rice of Athens, GA; daughters, Sandra Lawson of Chatsworth, GA, and Marsha Stoker of Dallas, TX; sister-in-law, Vercell Rice of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Bridget Reed, Chip and Kristy Lawson, Shannon Stoker, and Madelyne Rice; great-grandchildren, Austin and Falyn Brown, Skylar and Brittany Brown, and Hannah and Chase Helms; great-great-grandchildren, Maggie Brown, Axel Brown and MadiKate Brown; special caregiver, Lisa Hopper; several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Mary Lou Stoker will be held Thursday evening, April 4, at 6 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Minister Kevin Tackett officiating.

She will be laid to rest with her husband at Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 4 p.m. on Thursday until the service hour.
