Lee University’s Jazz Band, under the direction of Alan Wyatt, will present its spring concert on Wednesday, April 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the Dixon Center on Lee’s Campus.

The group will perform music by composers such as Billy Strayhorn, Gwilym Simcock, and Bob Mintzer. The program will also feature two student arrangements.

Lee’s Jazz Ensemble performs traditional and recent literature for the traditional Big Band. The ensemble includes rhythm section instruments, saxophones, trumpets, and trombones. A frequent award winner at national festivals, the group performs for campus, school, and civic events.

Mr. Wyatt, associate professor of music, has been teaching and mentoring students at Lee since 1990. He teaches courses such as applied saxophone, commercial music theory and history, and jazz improvisation. He has served as a performer for area jazz festivals and as a clinician, most recently for the Tennessee Music Educators Association as the clinician for the All-State Jazz Band.

The concert is free, non-ticketed, and open to the public. Livestream viewing will be available at leeu.live/.
