The Tennessee County Trustee's Association honored Mike Smith with the distinct honor of East Tennessee Trustee of the Year Award. This honor recognizes the outstanding trustee for each grand division for their exemplary service to the State of Tennessee, to the citizens of their county through their dedicated public service.

Mr. Smith began his service to Bradley County as a deputy sheriff in 1975. He served his community as a county commissioner for 16 years. In 2006, Mr. Smith was elected as county trustee and serves dutifully in this role.

He has made vast improvements such as creating satellite locations for February tax collections, making access easier for taxpayers. He is always looking for ways to offer a great customer service interaction with his office, said officials.

Mr. Smith is an active member of the Tennessee County Trustees Association and East Tennessee Trustees Association.

“I cannot think of a more deserving honor for the admirable service Trustee Smith has provided to our local and statewide community," said Gina Burchfiel, TCTA president. "He is a leader and mentor who strives to continually serve well."
